Following a stage acting career he rose to popularity in the television series Remington Steele (1982-87). (National Movie Award, 2008), and The Ghost Writer (2010). He lived in Navan, County Meath for 12 years and considers it his hometown. When asked in a 2008 Reader’s Digest interview if he still practiced Catholicism, Brosnan replied, “I was an altar boy. That never leaves you. From a little school of, say, seven classrooms in Ireland, to this very large comprehensive school, with over 2,000 children. in 1977 he was picked by Franco Zeffirelli to appear in the play Filumena by Eduardo De Filippo opposite Joan Plowright and Frank Finlay.
